This is a beautiful antique Society Silk embroidered pillow cover layover sham. A pillow layover is a single piece of fabric that lies on top of a pillow. The antique pillow cover layover sham features lovely Society Silk Embroidered work of flowers and a W monogram. Other uses could be as a table runner dresser scarf.
The off white linen pillow cover layover sham has 3 large diamond shaped pieces with drawn work along the seams. The silk hand embroidered roses and leaves were done with silk thread floss.
There is an embroidered W in the center of the middle diamond.
Circa: 1900's
Antique Pillow Cover Layover Sham Measurement: 66” long x 25” high at each point.
The embroidered W is 1.5" wide & 1.25" high.
Antique Pillow Cover Layover Sham Condition: There have been some past repairs with a needle and thread to the linen. There is a tiny amount of damage to the drawn work. There are golden spots and a small red stain on the antique pillow cover layover sham. I do not know if the stains are all removeable.
