This listing is for the embroidery whitework of a 18th century French handkerchief and not the handkerchief itself. The salvage areas of the antique French handkerchief are beautiful examples of extensive whitework embroidery and needlelace fillings. Sadly, the fine lawn center area and 1 corner area of the handkerchief has holes and shredding. The Valenciennes lace border is mostly useable with some wear in places at the lace edge.

The embroidery whitework is suited as salvage for sewing projects where you want to add some whitework embroidery trim. The design consists of 4 large designs of flowers 4" x 3" and then a smaller border area of 4 whitework embroidery designs of approx. 8" x 1".

Another use for this antique French handkerchief is to frame it under glass. If carefully folded to show the detailed embroidered whitework of floral and foliage motifs but folded to hide the holes in the fine lawn it would make a pretty display piece.

The antique French handkerchief has been washed recently and just needs to be pressed before framing or using for sewing projects.

Please take a close look at all of the above photos which are intended to form part of the item description.
